The Role:

As the Data Engineering Director, you will oversee the strategy, architecture, development, and operation of Airwallex's data and AI platforms.

You will play a pivotal role in influencing data-driven and AI-powered decision-making processes. A key aspect of your role will also include building a high-performing team that excels in a fast-paced environment. Your leadership will be critical in mentoring the team, promoting a culture of innovation, and driving technical excellence.

• You are a leader- with 8+ years of experience leading a high-powered engineering team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Successful track records in transforming an organization into a data-driven organization.
• Expertise in big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
• GCP experience is preferred, but AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with docker and Kubernetes are great too.
• Proven track record in technical mentorship and leadership.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Flexibility to work across global time zones is required.
• Exposure to working on high-volume distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures.
• Previous experience in FinTech is a plus.
