What the role is

  • The Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) Limited is a knowledge centre under the Ministry of National Development with a mission to distil, create and share knowledge on liveable and sustainable cities. The Centre's work spans research, capability development, advisory and knowledge platforms, including the World Cities Summit. You can expect a dynamic and rewarding career at CLC, where you will help bring together city leaders and experts from around the world to address contemporary urban challenges and opportunities.

What you will be working on

  • You will help drive CLC's knowledge work in Decarbonising Cities, grouped under the broad research theme of Sustainable Futures working with CLC management to develop roadmaps for research, supervising and mentoring a team of researchers, working on challenging urban systems research projects and developing quantitative and qualitative study methods for these projects. Specifically, you will handle research projects which focus on taking a systems view of the path towards net zero for cities, with a focus on how the future of a carbonconstrained world impacts cities, in particular, to Singapore's built environment and socioeconomic milieu.

In addition, you may also be involved in CLC's capability development programmes which train urban leaders from Singapore and other cities.

You may also play a role in planning and executing the biennial World Cities Summit and other platforms for sharing knowledge


What we are looking for

  • At least 68 years of relevant working experience as a researcher, policy maker or practitioner involved in one or more of the following domains, namely, Sustainable Development, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), Energy, Environmental Management and/or Planning, and/or Urban Systems Design/Engineering.
  • Qualifications in Environmental Science/Economics/Management, Energy Systems, or other related disciplines would be advantageous.
  • An inquisitive mind with good adaptive and communication abilities, and interpersonal skills.
  • Keenness to explore knowledge on the science of cities, and drive to deliver impactful outcomes in a researchoriented environment.
  • Able to lead a crossdisciplinary team, coach and mentor junior officers, and work well with a diverse group of stakeholders including academics, agencies and private companies.
