JOB DESCRIPTION

Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Civil and Structural Engineer, you will review proposed site development design items to ensure owner requirements are met. Provide comments based on review of the submissions and guide the consultant to meet the project goals and design standards. You will help identify items that do not meet program requirements and review alternatives to bring the design into alignment with program objectives.

Qualifications

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide civil and structural engineering knowledge for design-related activities in connection with mulit-disciplinary designs, sites, and data centers.
• Serve as a consultant, advisor, and authorized technical representative through all phases of the projects.
• Work with the Google stakeholder groups, related consultants, design consultants, construction management firms, and construction contractors to execute the design or construction agreement.
• Provide engineering guidance and reviews of civil and structural engineering works associated with site layout and data center building design.
• Help develop civil engineering guidelines and direction for design standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience in Civil/Structural or Site Engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of site layout, grading, drainage, road and infrastructure layouts.
• Knowledge of buildings design, detailing, coordination, and construction.
• Knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles, practices, and related technical areas.
• Ability to communicate technical issues in written and verbal forms with online collaboration and presentations.
• Excellent report writing, document, and presentation skills.
