    Roles & Responsibilities

    Role Summary/Purpose

    The Field Services Engineer &Technical Advising role is a field-based role which requires the incumbent to travel to customer sites across the APAC region to provide specialist installation and maintenance support as directed by his Resource Manager. The role will report to the Resource Manager for SEA region.

    Essential Responsibilities

    As a Baker Hughes Lead Field Service Engineer – Instrumentation & Controls you will represent Baker Hughes both technically and professionally to ensure that equipment is installed, maintained and started properly. Your key responsibilities will include:

    • Lead Field Service Engineer – Instrumentation & Controls you are responsible to support installation services for Baker Hughes/GE Aero derivatives Gas Turbine (LM2500) /Heavy Duty Gas Turbines/Nuovo Pignone Compressors (BCL Compressors) /Pumps/Auxiliaries in customer Owned Sites in remote Shipyards, Oilfields, Industrial Facilities and LNG Plant.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience as Lead Control support for outages, shutdowns, minor and major maintenance, start up and commissioning related experience and worked on Baker Hughes/GE Baker Hughes/GE Aero derivatives Gas Turbine (LM2500) /Heavy Duty Gas Turbines/Nuovo Pignone Compressors (BCL Compressors) /Pumps/Auxiliaries packages in Oil & Gas platforms and auxiliaries such as pumps and compressors.
    • Able to lead a team of Control Engineer and electrical and instrumentation technicians for related activities such as outages, services, installation, start up and commissioning support.
    • Good knowledge of Gas Turbine Control Systems and Auxiliary Systems including but not limited to GE Mark Vie, Woodward Netcon, Micronet, Micronet Plus, & PLC Allen Bradley controls systems.
    • Able to do Electrical & Instrumentations tasks besides the managing the commissioning of equipment with the current control systems.
    • Provide customers with technical direction and support on the calibration, repair and operation of instrumentation and controls equipment.
    • Implement conversions, modifications and upgrades to gas turbine controls systems including software upgrades and major retrofits.
    • Troubleshoots, reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs.
    • Records and reports abnormal function or out of tolerance conditions of equipment and initiates corrective action and documentation.
    • Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams
    • Reading Installation, Maintenance, Commissioning Site Activities with proper Customer/Company Schedule Targets Mindset following strictly Quality and HSE Rules.
    • Utilizing Problem Solving Skills, Engineering Instructions, Drawings, and Process Instructions during Gas Turbines Commissioning and Start-up Activities.
    • Possessing the Technical Capability to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for Gas Turbines Products.
    • Preparation of job-planning documents based to Assignment's Scope of Work.
    • Communicating effectively with Service / Installation / Project Managers and Site Leaders/Site manager on job planning and execution and with Resource Managers regarding site arrivals, departures and job progression.
    • Providing input for Daily, Weekly & Final report for outages and installations projects.
    • Preparing timely and accurate technical reports for Customer records and as Reference for future Outages.
    • Actively participate to customer and/or contractor meeting and be promoter on their recurrence and following action plan.
    • Establish through the immediate Report after the Daily HSE Tool Box Talking (mandatory for Baker Hughes /Contractor personnel) the critical activity tasks and remark any HSE aspect to be followed.
    • Have knowledge of all Quality procedures and documentation applicable to specific activities and ensure they are properly followed and updated.
    • Ensure that Red Flag Review process for New Units Installation is followed and applied.
    • Ensure Site Quality Check List/Job Cards/Field Procedure are followed and properly signed.
    • Ensure reports and drawings "marked-up" are completed.
    • Ensure all RCA and Lesson Learned are addressed properly.
    • Ensure all Non-Conformity (technical and materials) are properly addressed using BHGE e-tools and follow up till resolution.
    • Ensure compliance with local/current legislation, requests & requirements present in the site Safety Manual.
    • Willing to actively participate in NPI (New product Introduction) training to acquire Multiskilling.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Engineering Degree/High School Technical Diploma or equivalent knowledge or at least Five (5) years of work experience.
    • Significant work experience, preferably in the Energy or Oil & Gas industry.
    • Demonstrated experience as lead field engineer.
    • Strong knowledge on Baker Hughes/GE Aeroderivates Gas Turbine/Heavy Duty Gas Turbines/Steam Turbines/Compressors/Auxiliaries installation & maintenance philosophy.
    • Fluent oral and written English.
    • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
    • Health, Safety and Environmental mindset and compliance.
