DESIGNATION :
Art and Music Teacher (Primary Years) (6-months' contract)


RESPONSIBILITIES


We are seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Primary Art and Music teacher to join a dedicated team of professionals for a maternity cover from
2nd September 2024 to 28th February 2025.


This is an exciting opportunity for a colleague with a teaching background in Primary education with experience in Art and Music to join a growing school in the heart of Singapore.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach Art and Music from ages 5 to 11. The ability to also teach Music to ages 11 to 14 will be a distinct advantage.


KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work collaboratively with children, teachers and the community to develop a Performing Arts programme that supports and deepens the learning that is taking place through class initiated inquiries
  • Work closely with the classroom teachers to connect directly with the class inquiries and be flexible and open to change and new ideas as they emerge in their work alongside the children;
  • Meet regularly with the class teachers and the Head of Primary to discuss ideas and connections to the current inquiries;
  • Maintain a high standard of teaching practice and professionalism;
  • Undertake continued professional development and share the scope of Performing Arts with the school community;
  • Document the children's learning making connections to the curriculum. For example; portfolio entries, newsletters, community display boards;
  • Coordinate a showcase of the Performing Arts through events;
  • Manage a lively, enthusiastic, orderly and safe learning environment.
  • Differentiate lessons according to the abilities and learning needs of individual students.
  • Work in conjunction and collaboration with the Secondary Art specialist
  • Keep abreast of current developments in Art education and to adapt the curriculum content and methods of teaching and examining as appropriate.
  • Ensure health and safety policies are followed within the Art classrooms.
  • Ensure students' work is regularly assessed and that homework is in line with school policy.
  • Report to parents in accordance with the school's reporting policy.
  • Contribute to cocurricular activities that broaden students' experiences and contribute to the general life of the school.
  • Promote the study of Art and Music amongst students and parents.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings of a professional nature.
  • Liaise with members of the Inclusive Education Team with regard to individual students, to ensure that those needs are understood, planned for and met.
  • Develop effective links with the wider community, in order to extend the study of Art and enhance teaching and learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts/Music or equivalent.
  • Personal knowledge and experience working with the Arts is of key importance in the role.
  • Possess at least 23 years of experience as a teacher.
