    Neo Performance Materials is a leading supplier of advanced materials used in a wide range of technology applications across many sectors. With our state-of-the-art processing and manufacturing facilities we are able to produce some of the highest performance rare earth and rare metal based engineered materials in the world.

    Our business is organized along three business segments: Neo Chemicals and Oxides, Neo Magnequench, and Neo Rare Metals. Through these segments, we are engaged in the production, processing and development of rare earth and zirconium-based engineered materials; magnetic powders; and rare metals including gallium, indium, rhenium, tantalum and niobium.

    Associate Scientist (Synthesis)

    Our Singapore Research & Development facility is currently searching for an Associate Scientist (Synthesis) with outstanding credentials to support NEO Chemicals and Oxides division's aggressive growth strategy in the development and application of new generation materials for a wide range of industrial markets such as automotive, consumer electronics, water purification and healthcare.

    The selected candidate will participate in several projects to support the above-mentioned sectors. This position will be offered to the individual who has the appropriate background and is able to combine scientific, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills in order to timely deliver commercially successful products.

    Materials research focused, specific accountabilities will be to:

    • Carry out experiments to support the development of new and technically innovative solutions which would positively impact the production
    • Perform chemical and physical characterization of synthesized materials according to procedures and protocol
    • Assist the scale-up of materials from bench to pilot-plant and assist in their implementation to full production
    • Prepare quality and detailed technical reports and their effective communication to management through oral or written presentations
    • Promote a laboratory culture of 'safety first' at all times, to be active in safety meetings and continue NEO 's excellence in safety performance

    Key qualifications and experience required for this position include:

    • Preferably at least 2 years of relevant work experience with good Bachelor's degree or MSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
    • Prior work experience in inorganic chemistry is preferred
    • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities
    • Good attention to detail and solution oriented, with the ability to be both strategic and 'hands on' to overcome challenges in an effective and timely manner
    • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to internal and external audiences
    • Ability to speak Mandarin in a scientific environment is an added advantage
