Providing information about health care services available in the community, including insurance options and other financial assistance programs
Counseling patients on diet and exercise, stress management and other lifestyle changes that can improve health
Conducting health screenings such as cholesterol tests, blood pressure screenings, or prostate exams to determine whether patients have risk factors for certain illnesses
Coordinating with physicians to schedule appointments, prepare exam rooms, and review lab results
Providing educational materials about disease prevention and treatment methods for various conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, prostate cancer, etc.
Recommending appropriate medical treatment such as surgery, medication, physical therapy, or other appropriate interventions
Providing information about treatment options and their costs to patients with insurance coverage
Explaining the risks and benefits of different treatment options
Referring patients to specialists as needed
