The firm manages more than $350 million of assets on behalf of their investors who are comprised of leading institutions, foundations, family offices, and individuals.

About the role
January Capital is building a proprietary tool to win in emerging markets.

Data is at the core of everything we do - we leverage proprietary datasets and tools with the goal of allowing the firm's investment team to identify and engage with the most promising founding teams at the earliest stage.

We are now looking to onboard a Data Scientist who is passionate about data.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Interpretation:Utilize advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets, identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies.
Translate complex data into actionable insights, presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Model Development:Develop predictive and prescriptive models to solve business challenges, such as forecasting, customer segmentation, and recommendation systems.
Experiment with various machine learning algorithms and fine-tune models for optimal performance.

Feature Engineering:Engineer relevant features from raw data to enhance the quality and efficacy of machine learning models.
Collaborate with domain experts to extract meaningful features that capture domain-specific nuances.

Collaborative Problem Solving:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to define data-related requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.

Experimentation and A/B Testing:Design and analyze A/B tests to evaluate the impact of new features, models, or interventions, providing recommendations for improvements.

Data Visualization:Create clear and insightful data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to effectively communicate results and trends to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Master's or Ph.

D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related disciplines.

Proven experience in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling, preferably in a professional setting.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikitlearn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau) to effectively communicate insights.
Solid understanding of databases, SQL, and data manipulation.
Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to approach complex issues with creativity and innovation.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to nontechnical audiences.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies is a plus.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development.
