We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a
Data Analyst.

Principal Responsibilities
HSBC Data & Analytics Office (DAO) promotes a data-driven culture across HSBC through our strategy of:

  • Protect: To protect our data we need robust policies for data management and enhanced governance e.g. data that is consumed from a trusted source, meets quality standards, and complies with regulatory obligations
  • Connect: Move to a dataled culture through enhanced training including on the job opportunities. Our talent is the glue between protecting our data and unlocking value for our customers
  • Unlock. Value is unlocked when we deliver on the opportunities our wellmanaged data presents e.g. improving customer / colleague experience, increasing revenue, commercialising our data, optimising capital, enhancing risk management or reducing costs
  • The Data Analyst primarily supports the Unlock pillar of the strategy and plays a critical role in delivering analytical, business insights (BI) and data processing automation projects to democratize datadriven decision making as well as achieve operational efficiency across the organization
  • He/she will closely collaborate with stakeholders across businesses and functions in HSBC Singapore, as well as DAO colleagues across the Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia Cluster and at the Regional Asia Pacific level
Data Analytics & Automation Delivery


Support the Cluster Data Analytics Manager to deliver the best data solution to a business problem, tell compelling stories with data and get non-technical stakeholders along the journey.


This may entail:

  • Data exploratory analysis to identify patterns or insights using appropriate analytics or statistical techniques
  • Automation of data processing and/or output generation
  • Production of data visualization or dashboards using BI tools e.g. Qlik, Looker
  • Designing/developing a machine learning model and implementing the appropriate algorithm
  • Transferring knowledge through training, coaching and demonstrations to business users
  • In delivering these solutions, the Data Analyst is expected to:
  • Obtain and document business requirements relevant to the project
  • Perform feasibility analysis and design the most effective and sustainable solution with mínimal/no manual intervention
  • Gather the required data sources (may involve querying databases through SQL) and perform data cleansing/preprocessing
  • Conduct proofofconcepts and/or build the solution following the standard SDLC framework and local governance requirements
  • Coordinate user testing, troubleshooting and operationalization with key stakeholders benefitting from the outcome
  • Manage endtoend project timeline and progress as well as stakeholder management.=
  • Ensure adherence to HSBC Data Governance principles
Leadership & Teamwork

  • Develop strong working relationships with Data & Analytics Office teams within the Cluster (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia) and regionally
  • Undertake ad hoc projects to support overall delivery of Data Strategy that may extend to "Connect" and "Unlock" pillars
  • Collaborate across functions to scale, operationalise and embed successful initiatives within the Singapore businesses and functions
Requirements

  • Min of bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualifications
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience in the financial industry and/or datarelated roles
  • Expertise in datatooling or programming language strongly preferred e.g. Alteryx, Qliksense, Python, SQL
  • Project Management experience will have an added advantage
  • Problem solving capabilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at various levels of seniority
  • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility and accountability
