Objectives of the Position:


  • Performed Energy and Utility market (Power, Renewable Energy, Storage, Green Hydrogen, Biogas/methane, Natural Gas, Steam etc.) surveillance in SEA and India region, including policy development, tariff systems, incentive schemes, market trading, major equipment manufacturers, developers, utilities, investment fund and project pipelines
  • Produced longterm price forecasts and market research report in the region by using proper tools
  • Assisted the procurement team on several projects covering topics across corporate power purchase agreements and levelized cost of energy analysis.
  • Support the implementation of category strategies for Energy and utility products, including electricity, Natural gas, steam, water, wastewater and its derivatives products for SEA and India region, monitoring & compliance.
  • Routinely engage and keep smooth communication with iBP and increase iBP awareness on above topics
Cross-functional coordination


Responsibilities:


  • Support the Regional Category Managers of Energy and utility products to develop & monitor the implementation of the category strategy and support its implementation.
  • Strategy implementation & followup: tackle action items, deliver progress report to Regional Category Manager
  • Familiarity of the following aspects is highly desirable, especially for the Electricity (Renewable Energy, Conventional power and Coal, Storage), Natural Gas (biomethane), steam, Water, Wastewater in SEA and India region.
  • Technical: Familiarity with the technical / operational setup for Energy and utility products including its downstream value chain.
  • Commercial: Ability to develop relevant costbased and/or marketbased pricing mechanisms, depending on the products, including quantification of both fixed and variable costs and other contractual arrangements such as to achieve the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Contractual: Support RCM and local RCB to develop & negotiate relevant contractual clauses to achieve results that protects the interests of BASF.
  • Market development: Awareness of current regulatory framework, and also understanding of the current development (e.g. Market Reform planned by the government) and how to best position BASF for the future, which may also include providing support for advocacy and discussion with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate or lead highly complex negotiations, alone or as part of a team, to ensure the most competitive supply for BASF in the energy products. Provide support and participate for "make vs. buy" (esp. for downstream energy products) and/or "supply chain options.
  • Analyze complex contracts and supply setups to propose cost effective and sustainable supply arrangements.


Work closely with BASF production sites, business units and global procurement network to develop and implement sourcing strategies for energy products.

Provide input of iBPs' needs and market knowledge (e.g. supply market structure and dynamics, strategies of suppliers, pricing structures, opportunities and threats) to Regional Category Manager and Regional category buyer.


Requirements:


  • University degree with a focus in Energy, Chemistry, Engineering, Business or Supply Chain
  • 4+ years working experience in Business Management or Procurement related to the chemical industry, energy industry.
  • Experience in negotiating complex, longterm contracts (10+ years).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to manage relationships with internal partners and suppliers on all levels experience of dealing with State-Owned Enterprises and/or suppliers who have dominant market position will preferred
  • Ability to lead and influence others; demonstrated problemsolving skills with business value creation knowhow & high degree of entrepreneurial drive.
