Job Summary


Under general supervision, the Credit Control function is responsible for the oversight of all collection of broker debts, reconciliation, and allocation of cash across all Asia Branches.


At a high level, this includes:

  • Managing debt levels within appropriate Service Levels with LOB heads
  • Establishing, maintaining, and leveraging internal and external relationships to reduce debt and keep debt within acceptable levels
  • Oversight of unallocated cash in the region and working with relevant teams to clear outstanding unallocated cash
  • The function is accountable to the Senior Manager, Operations directly but will also have accountability to the Senior Manager, Finance Transformation to ensure thresholds and processes are met.

Job Duties

Debt Collection & Cash Allocation

  • Oversight and influence on process improvements and escalation for debt collection & cash allocation processes for Asia
  • Joint ownership with Underwriting, Operations and Finance on the endtoend debt collection and cash allocation processes for Asia
  • Manage allocation instruction request processes via an offshore and offshore team, using KPIs and SLAs to track performance
  • Investigation of cash mismatch issues, identifying root causes and implementing process improvement where required

Credit Control

  • Oversight and drive best practice for credit control and debt processes to keep debt within agreed thresholds
  • Own and implement immediate action plan for the reduction of current debt volumes/values
  • Work with team to establish and publish processes on best practice, including how to review and investigate overdue premium items.
  • Compile, track, and drive actions from different teams to resolve debts.
  • Identify booking improvements which impact on cash & debt processes and collaborate with the data entry teams to implement process improvement
  • Manage and establish clear plans with relevant underwriting and operations teams to resolve outstanding premium for debts aged greater than a year
  • Identify, execute, liaise with Legal and underwriting teams on policies that require cancellation notices due to nonpayment of premium when required
  • Oversight of unallocated cash in the region and working with relevant teams to clear outstanding unallocated cash
  • Establish clear KPI's by branch and/or product to ensure that debt/unallocated cash levels stay at agreed threshold
  • Ensure that all identified issues are documented with relevant root cause analysis and proposed actions

Customer Service

  • Meet with Brokers where required to discuss payment performance at portfolio level
  • Regular meetings with internal stakeholders (underwriters, distribution teams, finance and group) to discuss main drivers of unallocated cash/debtors.
  • Quarterly meetings with LOB managers to ensure teams are supporting cash and credit control activities

Reporting & Data

  • Co-Ownership of reporting, data, and analytics associated to unallocated cash and debt within the region.
  • Partner with the Finance Transformation team to help define, design, and test improvements to existing reports and new reports/tools as required.
  • Ensure that all relevant Ops team members are familiar with reports and use them frequently to drive daily activity.
  • Assist with the analysis of data as required

  • Significant Cash Allocation & Credit Control Experience in Asia insurance markets
  • Strong Stakeholder management skills
  • Data Manipulation and Analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel & MI tools
  • Understanding of basic financial reporting
  • Working knowledge of Insurance source systems
