Description

This position is for a Principal Marine Engineer who has worked as a Lead Marine Engineer with good knowledge of Singapore permitting requirements.

As a Marine Engineer, you shall have knowledge of design, planning and project management in delivering nearshore/coastal Civil & Structural infrastructure.

You shall ideally have good experience of working as lead engineer, developing a range of terminal and port solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation.


Responsibilities:


  • Administration, overall technical direction and coordination of all Marine engineering and design work on assigned projects in accordance with Project Execution Plans, applicable Project Procedures and Standards.
  • Overall operation of Marine Engineering Specialists group with high quality and timely completion of their work within the established work hour budgets for the assigned project.
  • Concept, front end and detailed design of port infrastructure and coastal engineering projects
  • Preparation and review of design drawings and supporting calculations.
  • Liaison with other disciplines during the design process
  • Participation in client workshops, safety reviews etc.
  • Inspection and assessment of existing marine infrastructure
  • Providing project and study management with support when required
  • Coordinate with the Permitting Coordinator and Qualified Persons (QP) for timely delivery of Marine Engineering documents for local authority approval as necessary.
  • Ensure high quality and timely completion of the assigned work within the established budgets
  • Ensure adequate manpower resources and technical competence are available for his assigned area.
  • Review and provide input to project schedules.
  • Adherence to Wood Engineering Procedure / Work Instruction for design safety, and to ensure the adoption of safe attitudes towards engineering design, and that features affecting the safety and integrity of the project are reviewed.
  • Prepare the deliverables list with manhours for all Marine Engineering activities.
  • Review and provide input to project schedules to see that all dates and progress are realistic.
  • Attend progress meetings and prepare Marine Engineering Progress Report.
  • Assist in site walkdown survey and site walkthrough with other discipline engineers and Client representatives if the situation requires resolving technical issues.
  • Prepare Subcontract requisitions for Architectural work & participate in Technical Bid Evaluation.
  • Provide Construction support.

Qualifications:


Degree or postgraduate in Coastal and Marine Engineering with 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in Costal Structures, Marine Studies and related works.


Knowledge, skills and experience:


  • Experience in design and delivery of coastal and harbour infrastructure (piled jetties/trestles, breasting and mooring dolphins, sheet piles, quay walls etc.)
  • Experience in detailed design of Reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Good knowledge of Foreshore requirement and liaison with local authority, such as MPA
  • Experience in handling/managing/reviewing Marine Studies, including Jetty Meta Ocean study, Navigation Study, Sea Traffic and Ship Collision Study and Report, Marine Exclusion Zone Assessment and Report, Marine Risk Assessment, Sea Water Dispersion Study, Dynamic passing ship and driftoff assessment, etc.
  • Experience in the use of structural analysis software packages.
  • Experience in geotechnical design.
  • Familiar with relevant designs codes such as
  • BS6349, EC2, EC3, EC7 etc and International Codes.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
