    Roles & Responsibilities

    Role:Linux Engineer

    JD:

    • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
    • Administration and troubleshooting of Unix Servers (Preferably Solaris, Linux)
    • Able to install Unix servers from scratch and has good troubleshooting skills on Solaris Systems.
    • Perform administrative tasks related to Unix server installations and decommissioning
    • Manage high availability clustering environment
    • Performance monitoring (OS, CPU, Memory, Network and Disk)
    • Detect, diagnose, report, and resolve Unix/Linux Server related hardware and OS problems.
    • Ensure all Unix/Linux operating systems are patched to the latest appropriate releases.
    • Knowledge in hardening and securing of Unix Systems
    • Advanced level of Administration of Solaris/Linux server with cluster and RBAC knowledge
    • Understanding of RAID, pros and cons of various RAID levels and decision making on the same in a given situation
    • Sun/LINUX/VCS cluster configuration, administration and troubleshooting
    • Working experience with various storage, precisely for cluster configurations is good to have
    • Working knowledge in SAN environment is good to have
    • File system management and troubleshooting
    • Experience and knowledge with installing and implementing Sun hardware, Solaris Zones,Ldoms and upgrade/migration related tasks.
    • Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet.
    • A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby).
    • Preferably with any two of the given certification - Solaris and Linux Certification
    • Establish and maintain documentation and standards
    • Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required
