What the role is

  • The Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) Limited is a knowledge centre under the Ministry of National Development with a mission to distil, create and share knowledge on liveable and sustainable cities. The Centre's work spans research, capability development, advisory and knowledge platforms, including the World Cities Summit. You can expect a dynamic and rewarding career at CLC, where you will help bring together city leaders and experts from around the world to address contemporary urban challenges and opportunities.

What you will be working on

  • You will partake in CLC's knowledge work in in the research domains of Urban Governance, Real Estate and Land Economics, and Urban Planning and Design, grouped under the broad research theme of the Future of Work. You will be working with a team of researchers on challenging urban systems research projects and developing quantitative and qualitative study methods for projects.

Specifically, you will handle research projects such as Future Towns and Districts with a focus on how the changes to the nature of work and shifts in live-work patterns impact how towns and neighbourhoods can be planned, as well as the Future of the CBD looking at the conditions and infrastructure needed to be put in place to support the evolution of the CBD, in the light of post-pandemic disruptions.

You will also work on topics related to the future urban environment, such as sustainable mobility, the quality of the lived environment, as well as review of indicators and metrics used to quantify liveability.

In addition, you may also be involved in CLC's capability development programmes which train urban leaders from Singapore and other cities.

You may also play a role in planning and executing the biennial World Cities Summit and other platforms for sharing knowledge.


What we are looking for

  • At least 46 years of relevant working experience as a researcher, policy maker or practitioner involved in one or more of the following domains, namely, Urban Planning, Urban Management/Policy, Architectural or Urban Design, Urban Economics, and/or Real Estate.
  • Qualifications in Urban Governance, Planning and Development Policy, Urban Economics, Real Estate, Public Policy, Architecture and/or Urban Design or other related disciplines would also be advantageous.
  • An inquisitive mind with good adaptive and communication abilities, and interpersonal skills.
  • Keenness to explore knowledge on the science of cities, and drive to deliver impactful outcomes in a researchoriented environment.
  • Able to lead a crossdisciplinary team, coach and mentor junior officers, and work well with diverse stakeholders, including academics, agencies and private companies.
