    This position is for a deeply technical product leader prepared to drive the reinvention of education through artificial intelligence. 2 Hour Learning seeks a technical architect to oversee the modernization of our AI-driven learning ecosystem. The ideal candidate possesses the technical depth to function as a chief technology officer, the strategic product vision to catalyze transformational change, and the commitment to deploy these capabilities to unlock student potential at scale.

    While most organizations add AI to conventional education frameworks as a secondary consideration, 2 Hour Learning has taken a fundamentally different approach: we have reconstructed the school model entirely, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations of the traditional classroom. Our students don't merely improve—they excel, earning multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams, demonstrating multi-year academic advancement in a single year, and routinely surpassing their own expectations.     This is not a conventional product management position centered on customer feedback cycles or incremental feature releases. This is an executive-level technical product ownership role, where you will own the architecture, technical strategy, and AI integration across our entire learning platform. You will make the difficult technical tradeoffs required to keep our products lean, scalable, and relentlessly focused on enhancing student outcomes. You will think with the strategic depth of a CTO while executing with the agility of a product entrepreneur, combining engineering rigor with learning science principles to deliver continuous breakthroughs.

    What You Will Be Doing
    • Building and demonstrating comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic decisions
    • Creating technical specifications that embody critical technical decisions and emphasize simplicity, efficiency, and long-term sustainability
    • Deploying generative AI technologies to automate and optimize engineering workflows, consistent with the strategic objective of minimizing manual effort

    What You Won't Be Doing
    • Focusing exclusively on people management; your technical and business judgment will be central to this role
    • Spending time on meetings, committees, and administrative overhead; we have automated management tasks so you can concentrate on delivering business value through direct work
    • Proposing high-level strategies without actionable implementation guidance; your recommendations must be grounded in product-level understanding

    Director Of Product Architecture Key Responsibilities
    • Serve as the CTO of one or more education products, owning core competencies and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic decision-making

    Basic Requirements
    • Deep experience or interest in data-driven learning science
    • 7+ years of experience making the important architecture and design decisions on software projects, such as the application of architecture design patterns or significant open source technologies
    • 2+ years of experience making design decisions involving the use of cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
    • 4+ years of experience in positions with full technical and delivery ownership on a revenue-generating product
    • Experience building product features that make advanced use of Generative AI
    • Experience using Generative AI to simplify work processes

    Working with us

    This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
