Description

The Financial Analyst position provides you with the opportunity to become a key partner to the business by supporting our Client Markets function in managing and steering their respective portfolios.

You will also be responsible for coordinating the business planning and performance measurement processes, as well as providing ad hoc support and analysis where required.

You will be responsible for coordinating the quarterly EVM and US GAAP closing activities for both the P&C and L&H business with the cross-functional team in Swiss Re Asia.


The opportunity

  • Perform renewal analysis for major P&C renewal periods ensuring timely understanding of performance for the unit
  • Reviewing and subsequently presenting insightful analysis of the financials to Client Market/Solution/Transactions leaders; communicating key business trends, underlying performance, tactical financial initiatives to meet performance expectations, and the impact of specific investments.
  • Actively provide uptodate information on the development of critical issues arising from the respective line of business to ensure timely steering
  • Propose and prepare new/ad hoc analysis to enhance effectiveness of business analytics and bring valueadded analysis to our business partners
  • Review and challenge business assumptions used in the quarterly/annual business controlling process for the respective line of business and countries
  • Proactively identify and address relevant issues that may have financial and business implications with the local Market Heads and local Heads of Finance. Where necessary, work closely with other key stakeholders from claims, underwriting, technical accounting and reserving actuaries
  • Drive the annual business plan, coordinate with region and global FP&A team on running through a top down plan process through
  • Setting targets based on revenue performance and future investments.
  • Developing budget packs designed to drive the clear communication of business plans and financial outcomes.
  • Consolidation and communication with senior leaders of country submissions and progress towards the overall Asia performance target.
  • Supporting country budget reviews to drive towards the Asia performance target through the communication and key trends within Revenue and capital.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop business cases surrounding structures solution/transaction review including M&A activities, IFRS17 and accounting standards. Perform review and adapting Asia transaction review procedures. Provide finance and accounting assessment through linkage to P&L/B&S performance.
  • Contribute towards simplification initiatives through experience in process efficiency, quality and controls

About the team

About you

  • At least five years of experience in controlling, accounting or similar experience, ideally in a Re/Insurance environment
  • Degree in Accounting, Actuarial, Business Management or Economics, preferably with a focus on Finance or Accounting
  • Good project management and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work and communicate in a multicultural organization in a matrix environment
  • A strong record of clientcentric behaviour and mindset
  • Proficient in IT software (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Access a plus)
  • Knowledge of financial reporting (USGAAP, IFRS, Economic valuation frameworks) will be preferred
  • Fluent in English; other languages a plus
