What the role is

Crisis scenarios include severe events caused by geopolitical risks, pandemics, natural disasters, and climate change effects, as well as major incidents such as piracies, vessel collisions and sinkings, oil/fuel/chemical spills etc.

which could cause disruptions to the global supply chain and negatively impact port security and maritime safety.

To ensure that Maritime Singapore is well-prepared for crisis scenarios, there is a critical need to strengthen and future-proof our operational responses and safeguard Singapore's national and maritime interests.

The complexity of such crises necessitates capability development and collaboration across multiple domains in the assigned area of operations.

Future operating concepts must leverage capabilities and sensors across multiple domains to enhance information exchange and data connectivity for situational awareness, detection of anomalies for timely intervention and effectiveness and timeliness of responses in a crisis.

  • Drive and track program/projects outcomes towards timely operationalisation and/or commercialisation.
  • Coordinate cross functional teams and work closely with RI/HLs/Academia to stay abreast of innovation and scientific development in the intersection of space tech and maritime.
  • Help develop a strategy and roadmap for improving maritime operations through Space technologies. To constantly monitor and iterate progress.
  • Leverage individual's existing extensive connections and relationships to form strategic partnerships with maritime industry players (e.g. regulatory bodies, vessel operators, port authorities) and encourage adoption of space solutions.
