The Financial Crimes Compliance within Bloomberg's Legal Department provides coverage of Bloomberg's regulated entities and products, as well as support for Bloomberg's non-regulated products and services.

We work to address regulatory issues, ensure compliance with current/developing rules and regulations, and correspond with regulators. Bloomberg has regulated activities that include regulated trading venues (e.g., U.K. Multilateral Trading Facility, U.S. Swap Execution Facility), a Recognised Market Operator in Singapore, Electronic Trading services, and other regulated offerings globally.


What's the role:


Based in Singapore, this is a great opportunity to lead a growing and dynamic Know Your Customer ("KYC") Team, within the regional Anti-money Laundering ("AML") function.


The role would involve close partnership with the Company's Global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team as well as with local Compliance teams, focused on Bloomberg Tradebook Singapore Pte Ltd among other regional entities.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of KYC Analysts and support the growth of the KYC team and function as it expands to meet and support business requirements of the regulated entities within the Bloomberg group.

The KYC team is primarily responsible for new client onboarding and ongoing maintenance/review of existing clients.

Besides overseeing the functional management of the team and providing ongoing support to the business and AML Compliance you will also interface with other operational and front office business functions and partners.


We'll trust you to:


  • Lead the KYC team in APAC, including coverage, oversight and support for our organised market (BTBS), operated by Tradebook Singapore Pte Ltd
  • Develop and conduct training for team members as and when necessary as well as assist in the creation and delivery of KYC/AML training to key business areas
  • Perform various other team management responsibilities and functions
  • Have a strong working knowledge of KYC/AML requirements for onboarding clients, including but not limited to the local regulations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, India and Malaysia
  • Run the daytoday client reviews pipeline and workflow
  • Prepare and distribute Management Information reports to the relevant Compliance groups and various business partners
  • Support the establishment of best practice across broad Bloomberg Compliance Function
  • Provide improvement plans in how to streamline the endtoend client review process
  • Serve as a point of contact for the business with regard to the KYC process and client status queries
  • Advise and assist with client queries
  • Provide advice and support to the relevant product Compliance of the Bloomberg group on complex KYC/AML issues and challenges
  • Represent the KYC/AML function on key strategic projects and initiatives as needed
  • Identify and assess key risk factors when considering the ML/TF risk relevant to clients, products or business lines and escalate where needed
  • Monitor ongoing legal and/or regulatory changes and assess impacts

You'll need to have:


  • Bachelor's degree or degreeequivalent qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant industry experience in the AML/KYC area and at least 3 years of previous experience leading a team of KYC Analysts
  • Subject matter expertise within the KYC/CDD area
  • Experience in dealing with various legal entity types and liaising with clients for KYC requirements for Singapore and other regions
  • A desire to work in a dynamic, openplan environment, where selfmotivation and cooperation are both key
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders across the Company
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation

We'd love to see:


  • Knowledge and practical implementation of the CDD/KYC requirements set out under the MAS AML/CFT regulations
  • Previous experience in working closely with AML Compliance function
  • In-House Financial Services experience
  • Involvement implementing KYC technology based solutions
