RESPONSIBILITIES


An Enrolled Nurse is responsible for providing basic nursing care and patient education underthe supervision and direction of a registered nurse.


S/He assists in teaching nursing and/or related disciplines in residential situations to all nursing and non-nursing staff and works with a team of nursing aides and allied health staff to attend to the health care needs of persons with intellectual disability in a residential facility.


S/He provides personal care assistance to residents in their daily living and performs tasks according to ther care plans developed by Nursing and/or Allied Health Professionals.

S/He maintains up-to-date documentation of clients' conditions and care treatments and also provides inputs for the development and review of care plans.


A caring, proactive and responsible professional who possesses good leadership and team management skills, the Enrolled Nurse works in various voluntary welfare organisations, communities and institutional settings.


Provide patient-centred care

  • Perform health assessment of patients' conditions.
  • Provide personal care assistance to residents in their daily living.
  • Perform activities according to care plans.
  • Carry out individualised planned nursing interventions for the patients.
  • Assist in procedures and treatments.
  • Adhere to infection control and prevention practices in patient care activities.
  • Participate in emergency care:
  • Assist in supporting trained staff in medical emergencies or crisis situations.
  • Monitor patients for early signs and/ or deterioration using appropriate physiological assessments and observations.
  • Maintain uptodate documentation of clients' conditions and care treatments.
  • Identify the needs of clients based on client interactions.
  • Assist Staff Nurse in supervising nursing team members in supporting healthcare professionals in providing assistance to clients in managing their healthcare needs.
  • Respond to challenging behaviours of clients and report to Head of Home and Allied Health Professional.
  • Recommend measures to mitigate risk to residents.
  • Support the intervention implementation for managing the challenging behaviours.

Clinical Supervision

  • Provide inputs to nursing team members and and/or Allied health professionals for the development and review of care plans.
  • Supervise daily handover to staff during shift change.
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate nursing documentation.
  • Assist Staff Nurse in supervising all junior staff in maintain effectively, responsible for their uniform code, punctuality, attendance, and adherence to the Residential Home code of conduct.
  • Support supervision of support care staff and nursing aide in performing basic nursing care activities.

Manage care operations

  • Supervise operations to ensure adherence to relevant statutory requirements and organisational policies.
  • Assist Head of Home/Assistant Manager on manpower roster.
  • Participate actively in regular operations review meetings with staff and debrief.
  • Conduct in service education or staff trainings forjunior nursing staff in providing assistance and care to clients.
  • Assist Staff nurse on the role of medication preparation and residents' related admin work.
  • Participate in quality and patient safety activities.
  • Provide feedback on risk assessment and quality management activities.

Perform stakeholder engagement

  • Assist Staff Nurse in liaising with other professionals, volunteer Doctor, hospital and stakeholders involved in the case to facilitate provision of care services for clients.
  • Provide client perspectives and needs in development of care plans with professionals and other stakeholder.
  • Maintenance and updated documents for MSF licensing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Enrolled Nurse (SNB License) with minimum of 2 years of clinical experience for Enrolled Nurse position.
  • At least a NITEC in nursing.


  • Computer literacy skills

  • MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with persons with autism, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • 3 shifts (Morning Duty, Afternoon Duty and Night Duty).
  • 5 working days and 2 day off (based on the roster).
