    Senior Research Associate, Molecular and Cell Biology – Hummingbird Bioscience

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    We are looking for a Senior Research Associate to join the Antibody Engineering team. The job function includes molecular and cell biology work and will provide important contributions to a fast-paced team with a cutting-edge technology platform.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design and execute strategies for cloning of antibodies and other proteins of interest using standard techniques in molecular biology
    • Responsible for maintaining cell culture under aseptic conditions, small-scale antibody production and purification
    • Adapt new methods to existing procedures and modify current experiments through scientific knowledge and intuition
    • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records of all laboratory work and experiments in electronic files
    • Contribute to the overall safety, operations and organization of the laboratory
    • Keep updated inventory of reagents and consumables and re-order when required
    • Active participation in team meetings and presentations as required

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Biology or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a Molecular Biology or Immunology research laboratory
    • Strong experience in molecular biology technologies (PCR, cloning and sequencing)
    • Experienced with mammalian cell culture
    • Fast learner with an ability to work independently and possessing troubleshooting and problem-solving skills as a team in a dynamic environment
    • Disciplined and well-organized with a positive attitude and the desire to learn and explore new techniques or areas
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to present results and thoughts in a clear and timely manner
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in antibody engineering and antibody-based binding assays (eg. ELISA and/or flow cytometry)
    • Previous participation in the discovery and development of an antibody (or other biologics) is highly desirable
    • Experience with phage display and antibody affinity maturation
    • Industry experience will be a plus
