    Total Portfolio Policy & Allocation
    The Economics & Investment Strategy Department (EIS) is responsible for long-term strategic asset allocation, economic research as well as identification of new investment trends and opportunities for GIC. The Total Portfolio Policy and Allocation division in EIS works closely with the Group Executive Committee (GEC) to shape the Total Portfolio's strategic outlook, define asset class exposures and benchmarks, and target optimal internal active strategy capital allocations over long- and medium- term horizons. You will help to formulate long-term and medium-term investment policies for the Total Portfolio and drive optimal capital allocation through rigorous portfolio research and analysis.

    What Impact can you make in this role?
    You will articulate GIC's strategic outlook, determine asset exposures and benchmarks, implement new return streams and investment models, and optimise the risk-reward of the GIC Portfolio. We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Total Portfolio Policy and Allocation division as an AVP. This is a high impact position that will work closely with colleagues across numerous investment groups to refine and optimize investment and portfolio management policy, while ensuring effective implementation.

    What will do you as an AVP, Economics & Investment Strategist?

  • Conduct research and analysis of a diverse range of asset classes spanning private and liquid alternative markets for asset allocation purposes
  • Produce regular market updates, return forecasts and risk modelling for those markets, applying both fundamental and quantitative perspectives.
  • Contribute to the long-term capital allocation process, articulate and communicate the asset class assessment and contribution to total portfolio.
  • Engage with GIC internal investment teams and external managers in idea generation, investment strategy and market assessment.
  • Effectively communicate relevant and insightful analyses, conclusions, implications and recommendations to internal stakeholders and senior management.
  • What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Advanced degree in relevant finance, economics, engineering or mathematics qualifications
  • Preferably 3 to 5 years' industry experience in relevant experience in asset management, investment due diligence and/or portfolio management; experience with private markets is a plus
  • Good financial knowledge and intuition, with knowledge on capital market trends and developments
  • Strong analytical capability, including keen interest in strategy research, portfolio construction, asset allocation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable with presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in programming.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and foster internal and external relationships.
