- Facultative and direct underwriting specified to meet profitability targets
- Ensure excellent services standards including quality of underwriting and rapid, expert, efficient response
- Develop and implement marketing plan
- Develop cedant and broker relationships
- Continually seek ways to improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness and profitability
- Participate in relevant professional organizations as a representative of the company
- Work with the State Manager, ensure that budget goals are met in terms of revenue and expenses
- Mentor Underwriters and Business Support Officers
- Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of Insurance industry experience in underwriting and or broking
- Distribution relationships (including cedants, R/I brokers, and local brokers)
- Ability to combine entrepreneurial, commercial approach with prudent underwriting
- Ability to handle or manage a portfolio of business
- Risk aware but not adverse
- Excellent communications skills
