    Description

    Assistant Teachers work in a direct support role, providingassistance to students and Class Teachers. They give classrooms the hands-onsupport they need to successfully educate students, taking care of certaintasks so that Class Teachers are able to properly instruct the students. Theyhave a key role in adjusting lessons to help each student learn the content bygiving them the one-on-one guidance they need after a group lesson with theClass Teacher.

    Responsibilities

    ·Oversee students in classroom settings as wellas non-classroom settings like outdoor play, learning journey and snack time

    ·Assist class teachers in routines such aschanging, snack time

    ·Work in small groups or one-on-one with studentsin the classroom to reinforce instructional material.

    ·Assist class teacher in organizing the learningenvironment, preparing materials and maintaining resources.

    ·Encouraging student participation, promotingpositive behavior, and reinforcing classroom rules and expectations

    ·Perform recordkeeping duties associated with theclassroom including attendance

    ·Facilitate students in proper classroomprocedures and behavior.

    ·Collaborate with teachers on a regular basisregarding student progress.

    ·Adapt instructional materials as necessary tomeet special education guidelines.

    ·Work with class teacher in managing challengingbehaviours

    ·Supervise the safety of students in and out ofthe classroom, following guidelines and implementing school standards under thedirection of the class teacher.

    Required skills and qualifications

    ·Highly communicative

    ·Patience and respectful discipline towards allchildren

    ·Understanding of basic principles of childdevelopment

    ·Ability to interact comfortably with childrenand staff

    ·Ability to be flexible and adjust to changes in adynamic environment

    ·Experience working with young children

    ·ECDA recognised FECCE cert
