OVERALL ROLE


The Data Centre Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a cluster of colocation data centres for a financial services industry Client with locations in South East Asia and Australia.

This role will work closely with 3rd party data centre operators and leadership teams to ensure efficient and effective management of all services including but not limited to infrastructure, equipment maintenance, controls and governance to ensure resiliency and minimise incidents & downtime.


This position is also responsible for technical and contractual quality assurance to ensure 3rd party data centres are compliant with country, regional, global technical standards in each location in South East Asia and Australia.

This role will be responsible for operational improvements, energy & capacity management and will be involved in influencing MEPF design as well as testing & commissioning for new or existing data centre expansion.


The job is based in Singapore at the Client's office, and will directly report to South East Asia Engineering Manager.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of the data centre's critical physical infrastructure for the Client
  • Ensure the colocation data centre operations are in line with the master services agreement
  • Ensure the SLA with the Client is adhered to by the colocation data centre and escalate where required for any breaches or near misses
  • Work in partnership with the colocation data centre and the Client to ensure 100% uptime
  • 24/7 on call for incident management. This will include responding to any issues within the data centre and managing the RCA investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s)
  • Ensure planned maintenance activities for all critical system serving to the Client's data hall are completed
  • Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to a high quality and without impact to the Client through effective change management
  • Conduct periodic design, operation, and maintenance audits of the colocation data centre to ensure statutory compliance and operational availability of the critical systems/ engineering infrastructure
  • Identify, track and report any deficiencies in data centre performance and provide regular updates to stakeholders
  • Oversee and report on statutory compliance and compliance to Client's global standards
  • Collaborate with the colocation data centre and internal stakeholders to conduct periodic incident escalation drill
  • Work closely with other IT services teams to understand load forecast impact on data centre capacity management
  • Lead improvement projects, reaching out to a variety of support teams and stakeholders and driving results from conception to completion




CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION:
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA


  • Bachelor degree or equivalent professional qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Over 7 years' experience in data centre engineering and operations with regional exposure
  • Capable of operating in complex matrix organisations with multiple levels of reporting
  • Team player with high ethical standards and able to manage change and diversity
  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency/improvements and implement agreed solutions
  • Sensitive to, and capable of managing, all aspects of engineering risk
  • Good allround communication skills in receiving, delivering, and broadcasting information to effectively communicate with both local and international clients and coworkers proficiency in written and spoken English is essential
  • Computer literate, proficient in Power Point & Word and very familiar with Excel
