Senior Counsellor, Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Counselling and clinical services
- Provide individual and group counselling for the university community.
- Provide crisis intervention services.
- Conduct professional sharing on the school counselling services and intervention support for faculty and staff.
- Partner with different stakeholders e.g. FSC, MOE, MOH to offer supports to students.
- Assist with the referral of students to resources on and off campus.
- Provide clinical supervision to counsellors and practicum counsellors.
- Provide services consistent with professional ethical standards and standards of practice.
- Other clinical duties appropriate to the position, as assigned.
- Disability support services
- Provide counselling for students with special educational needs.
- Peer Helper Programme
- Conduct training and provide coaching for the SMU Peer Helpers.
- Liaise with external trainers to provide appropriate training for SMU Peer Helpers.
- Programmes and events
- Develop, implement, and evaluate outreach and/or psychoeducational programmes and events that address psychological needs and concerns, personal development, and mental wellness.
- Participate in marketing events including liaising for vendors, creating marketing materials e.g. electronic mailers, posters.
- Facilitate and/or conduct workshops and group work programme for university community.
- Any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Masters in Counselling.
- Minimum 8 years of clinical experience in a diversified environment with at least 3 years' experience in providing clinical supervision.
- Relevant experience working with clients with special educational needs will be advantageous.
- Preferably a registered counsellor and/or registered clinical supervisor with Singapore Association for Counselling or Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors Singapore or equivalent.
- Possess knowledge and experience in therapeutic frameworks and social service community resources.
- Competent in case management, crisis management and conducting of risk assessment (eg suicide, family violence) and safety planning with clients.
- Experienced in developing and conducting training, workshops and group work for students and faculty.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Good coordination and organizational skills.
- Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to adapt to changes and able to work as a team or independently.
- Flexible, able to multitask and work independently within tight timelines.
- Committed team player, responsible, reliable and able to work with others to achieve the university goals.
