    Roles & Responsibilities

    Job Summary

    • Provides comfort care to patients with terminal illness and end-stage organ failure under the supervision of trained staff.
    • Delivers a range of patient care duties under the supervision of trained staff providing basic patient care.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assists Staff Nurse in admission, transferring and discharge process.
    • Participates in direct bedside care with team members.
    • Performs basic hygiene and general nursing care to patients with terminal illness and EOL care.
    • Observes patient's clinical condition including response to treatments, goals of care and changes in physical and emotional status, and reports findings to Staff Nurse in charge, as appropriate.
    • Provides care following safety, infection control practices, hazardous material and waste policy and procedures.
    • Documents nursing assessment and interventions carried out accurately and timely.
    • Assists Doctor and nurses in performing procedures.
    • Assist with orientation of new Nursing Aide and Healthcare Attendant.
    • Precept and mentor new Nursing Aides and Healthcare Attendants.
    • Ensures safety of patients.
    • Participates in linen inventory and ensures that linen supply is sufficient and is replenished daily for use.
    • Respects and protects patients' rights and confidentiality.
    • Attends continual education to update skills and knowledge on palliative nursing care.
    • Complies with guidelines and safe practices in accordance with Organisation policy and nursing standards procedures.
    • Maintains a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, their families, visitors and staff.
    • Assists in maintenance of housekeeping, laundry, stationery, crockery & cutlery are sufficient for daily use.
    • Assists with proper use and care of medical equipment.
    • Assists in maintaining inventories of linen & kitchen utensils.
    • Ensures proper & safe storage of medical equipment.

    Requirements:

    • Completed primary / secondary school leaving examination.
    • Completed ISC (ITE Skills Certificate) Homecare Course/Certificate in Eldercare from NYP/Certificate in Organising for successful ageing from NYP.
    • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in healthcare sector preferred.
    • Mature, proactive, meticulous and able to multi-task.
    • Able to work with teams.
    • Has initiative and able to work with persons of diverse background and ethnicity.
    • Able to comprehend spoken and written English.
    • Able to comprehend mandarin or dialects would be helpful.
    • Familiar with MS office applications.
