Description

A Project Officer position as a synthetic and medicinal chemist is available in the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), to work on the synthesis of biologically active natural products and their analogs.

Key Responsibilities:

Design syntheses of the target compounds
Carry out the syntheses within the allocated time frame
Spectroscopic characterization
Liaise with collaborators for biological screening.
Supervise junior researchers and students involved with the project.
Assist with various task, including administrative tasks, necessary for the smooth running of the laboratory.

Job Requirements:

A BSc in Chemistry
Experience of synthetic organic chemistry, especially complex molecules and stereochemical issues.
Experience in carrying out air sensitive reactions, stereo

- and regioselective chemistry, spectroscopic methods (hands-on and interpretational, including NMR, IR and MS) purification techniques and mechanism-based reaction trouble shooting.
