[What the role is]

The Waste infrastructure Operations and Management Division (WIOMD) oversees the operation and maintenance of all NEA waste management infrastructure.


[What you will be working on]


You will work as an Operations engineer in Tuas South Incineration Plant to ensure the plant and its auxiliary equipment are operating smoothly, safely and efficiently.


You will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead and manage a shift group of technical officers and contract operators on the safe and efficient operation of the plant as well as frontline maintenance of the incineration plant
  • Assist the Operations Principal Engineer and Senior Engineer in the formulation, preparation and revision of standard operating and safety procedures, equipment testing/changeover programmes and plant emergencies
  • Optimise plant processes such as refuse incineration, power generation and scrap metal recovery
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned


You may also be or tasked to take on initiatives and projects related to Waste-to-Energy facilities, including process improvement and safety enhancements projects, managing demolition of older incineration plants; and may also be deployed to a new NEA operated Waste-to-Energy facility to be commissioned in the future.


[What we are looking for]

  • At least Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent field
  • At least 12 years of working experience in process/power plant engineering and the operation of boilers and its auxiliary equipment is preferred
  • Attained Steam Engineering or Boiler Attendance Certificate will be an advantage
  • Preferably with knowledge on procurement of services and project management
  • Outgoing and pleasant personality; mature, independent and resourceful; highly selfmotivated; patient and resilient; adaptable to diverse work scopes
  • Integrity and good interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Analytical with good writing, communication and problem solving skills
  • Good organisational and Leadership skills
  • Ability to lead, interact and foster team work; Willingly to perform night duties and rotating shift work
  • Ability to manage and administer contracts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
