    Roles & Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Evaluation & Assessment

    • Provide screening, identification, formal or informal assessments for students with speech, language, communication and feeding needs.
    • Identify and prioritise goals for intervention in collaboration with the student/family/caregiver and multidisciplinary team
    • Formulate care plans that are outcome based and relevant to students' goals through planning, implementing, evaluating and managing interventions
    • Measure outcomes of treatment and conduct continuous evaluation
    • Recommend appropriate alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) devices as necessary
    • Collaborate with the parents, teachers and the other allied health professionals to provide multi-disciplinary support to the students

    Intervention

    • Provide consultation, individual and/or group interventions that will improve students' functional performance and skills.
    • Select and prepare functional activities and recommendations to match students' skills and interests
    • Provide caregiver support to ensure and encourage continuity of intervention at home

    Service Administration & Management

    • Maintain inventory of resources
    • Plan budget allocation and recommend relevant speech and language therapy resources for the school
    • Conduct in-house training programs for internal and external stakeholders (eg. teachers / parents / caregivers / volunteers)
    • Participate in developing protocols and clinical guidelines to improve services in conjunction with the Head of Student Support/Principal
    • Maintain records and documentation of assessment and intervention

    Job Specifications

    • Possess Degree in Speech Pathology from an institution recognized by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
    • Valid practising certificate with full registration from the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC)
    • Applicants for Senior Therapist position should possess at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
    • Prior experience working with special needs children/ adults will be an added advantage
    • Good team player with strong communication, interpersonal skills and critical thinking
    • Able to work independently and effectively under pressure
    • Able to relate well to people and work effectively and harmoniously within a multidisciplinary team setting
