    Roles & Responsibilities

    n this position, you will be part of a dynamic and engaged Asia Pacific legal team Maersk's ambition to be the Global Integrator of Container Logistics. You will be deeply involved in the review, drafting and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, also providing general legal support to the business across the Asia Pacific region. You will act as a dependable legal business partner to internal stakeholders, facilitate business growth with a customer-centric mindset and protect the company's values, interests and reputation at the same time. A high degree of independence, competency and bias for action is expected, as well as the ability to take a pragmatic approach towards problem solving and risk management.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide robust advice and support on reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, with customers, suppliers, business partners and government authorities, etc.
    • Act as a trusted business partner in facilitating the commercial team's assessment of risks and rewards from a legal perspective, whilst safeguarding Maersk's values, interests and reputation.
    • Maintain a strong understanding of Maersk's contracting policies, materials and processes.
    • Responsible for engaging and managing of external legal counsel, including legal budget.
    • Provide training to (non-legal) colleagues on relevant topics such as commercial contracting.
    • Work effectively with other departments and functions such as Corporate Development, Investment & Growth, Finance, Tax, Compliance, etc.

    Who we are looking for candidates that represent the following:

    • Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent), with a minimum of 4 – 5 years of relevant legal experience in private practice at a reputable law firm with international clients and/or in a multinational company. Experience in the logistics industry will be a strong advantage.
    • Highly competent in written and spoken English (fluency in the Mandarin language is highly preferred to support business contract in the Chinese market), with strong communication skills including empathy and tact.
    • Proficiency in contracting, with demonstrable skill in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
    • Motivated personality that is continuously willing to learn, taking responsibility of one's own growth and seeking excellence in any performance.
    • Able to work independently, yet partner effectively with functional teams from a legal perspective and commercial mindset to find solutions to complex issues.
    • Utmost integrity and professionalism in the dispensation of duties in line with company values.
    • Flexible to adapt to changing priorities, fast-paced and fluid environments, willing to travel.
