Clarence Chong Wei Jun

Hi, I am Clarence Chong from Lasalle College of the arts, formally from Temasek polytechnic . Product and Industrial Design is about designing good product design having the power to improve lives. Everything, from the smartest, sleekest personal communication devices, to large-scale projects such as transportation modes depend on good design to make our lives better.

I think the world is full of possibilities - the good, the bad, and the grey. That's what my design 
is about-the hidden possibilities that design can give. That's what i believe, as nothing is really wrong, nor is it right. As people of the 21th century, I believe that we are in an age of ideas and dreams as technology is rapidly advancing and becoming vastly more capable. Thus I believe that many of our problems can be solved by empathy and a good understanding of our users.

As for my work, they signify the possibilities of nature as a whole, diverse and always hopeful. Through my designs, I hope to bring comfort and peace to my users and also a sense of hope.Thus, my designs are often easily maintained and easy to use. Mainly, I hope to see my designs as silent statements that teach others what can't be taught easily. I also want to bring some healing somehow by designing products that are comfortable but also enduring memories that have deep feelings along with it and a sense of "I'm glad that my life is that. I'm grateful for what I have and will be forever thankful"

My philosophy in life is also to live and let live so that we will realise that our lives are tiny and there is only substance in appreciation and respect for all beauty.

My personal experiences lie in CAD, Photography, rendering and some of the physical aspects of making and producing designs. I like the point of research because of the insights and learning that can be concluded. Empathetic sensory design is the key to the future.
