Joselyn Tong

I joined Shenzhen YunDing School where worked as a high school Chinese teacher and head teacher for three years from 2016-2019.  I taught students to analyze articles and write tasks on different topics. These include history, family, life, and society. We also have literature like poetry, fiction, and drama to help cultivate students' Chinese knowledge. Students should analyze a lot of literature. I help them develop their understanding and produce deep responses. They should also use their experiences to create strong writing. 

From August 2019-2022, I worked at  Learning Center in Hong Kong as an international school tutor, I was mainly responsible for teaching non-Chinese speaking students to learn the Chinese Language and Literature. I am proficient in the Singapore International School curriculum system and IB A & B (HL and SL)curriculum system, whose I taught the IBDP B(SL & HL) students who scored 7 for the past two years. I used different strategies to organize the class, and I created materials that are suitable for different levels of students to practice their Chinese skills and Learn Chinese Literature as well. 

In April 2022, I join Creative Secondary School as a Chinese Teacher. I taught thirty students classroom size who have different backgrounds to learn Chinese Literatures knowledge and practice Chinese Language skills. Based on the guideline of IGCSE and IBDP, I combined the text of each module with the rich and colorful extra-curricular activities of our school and the life experience close to Hong Kong, so that can help students deeply understand and know the knowledge and languages of Chinese subjects,  such as the way of character description, the angle of description and the expression, can be infiltrated into the student's daily learning. This practice of input and output not only consolidates students' learning but also allows them to reflect on their learning gaps, thus helping them to improve their performance in a targeted manner. 

I am originally from China, obtaining my BA in Chinese Language and Literature and my Master's at Hong Kong Baptist University.
