About Priyam Saharia:
I am a legal professional (LL.B.), along with a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Political Science. I have experience in both corporate law and in academia. I am currently returning to the workforce after a career-break and seek to renew my career in the Legal domain.
After completing my law degree from Delhi University, I worked as a Legal Consultant for three years in a corporate law firm in Mumbai. During my stint at the law firm, I gained extensive experience in drafting, vetting and executing legal documents, conducting legal research on capital market regulatory guidelines, on intellectual property matters and on guidelines for overseas investors to acquire assets in India. I assisted in the drafting of RFPs, and in conducting Due Diligence for a petrochemical company that was going to launch its IPO. Since it was a small law firm, I was given the opportunity to interact with clients in the infrastructure, private capital and media domains.
After my stint in corporate law, I went to the United States for my PH.D. I wrote my dissertation on the comparative analysis of the implementation of child labor laws across two states in India. My PhD training has equipped me with the ability to do in-depth research, write concisely and effectively, and analyze the real-world impact of laws—I believe that these are skills that set me apart and provide an advantage compared to someone who is a newly minted graduate from a law college.
Though I held two academic positions (one as Visiting Scholar at National University of Singapore, and another as Research Associate at Shujog, Singapore), I feel that my skills and temperament are more suited for work in the corporate domain. I believe that the paralegal position provides the exposure and training I need to renew my career and regain a foothold in the legal domain.
My diverse experience in academia and law has given me immense exposure, strengthened my ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders, and taught me how to stay organized and to be proactive in taking responsibility in any situation. I am confident that with my skills, exposure and training, I will be an asset to your organization.
I am a Singapore Permanent Resident.
