Shahira Banu

Having recently graduated from my MA programme in History of Art and Archaeology, I have been undergoing museum training programmes and interning to gain industry experience in the arts and heritage sector. I am an avid learner and am enthusiastic to take on new challenges. I have been interested in the arts and humanities sectors, which have motivated me to pursue an education in History for my undergraduate and do a Masters in History of Art on the Alphawood scholarship at SOAS. I enjoy picking up a new languages, although I am only fluent in two. I am currently learning German on Duolingo. 

I have had internship experiences in the museum sector starting with a part-time internship at the Indian Heritage Centre in 2021, the International Training Programme at the British Museum in 2022 and an internship with Museum Rietberg in Switzerland in 2022 as well. Having had a chance to learn with leading art historians and archaeologists at SOAS has allowed me to gain theoretical understanding of the arts and heritage sector, which I believe would be asset in the professional world. 

I have obtained a Masters with Merit in History of Art and Archaeology from SOAS, University of London on the Alphawood Scholarship. I grappled with topics such as fashion, ceramics, museology, curating, South and Southeast Asian Art.
