About Warna Vijayanga:

As a dedicated physiotherapist with more than three years of professional experience in the field of physiotherapy, I work with patients of all ages and have consistently received positive ratings from both clients and fellow health professionals. I am working independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team with the ultimate goal of delivering the best patient care, accompanied by a satiable desire for continuous professional development. 
Currently, I am working at the teaching hospital in Batticaloa under the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka. Under my duties at Teaching Hospital Batticaloa, I have managed patients in Rheumatology and rehabilitation management, pre and post-surgical physiotherapy management, Intensive care physiotherapy, pulmonary function test, pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation, paediatrics physiotherapy and sports physiotherapy.
I completed my bachelor's degree in physiotherapy at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2019. As a junior physiotherapist just after passing out from the University of Colombo, I was selected to work at Hemas Hospital's Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department-Sri Lanka and National Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and Other Developmental Disorders (NCCCPDD).
After completing an internship and management training course at the National Hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka, I was appointed as a physiotherapist in the teaching hospital at Batticaloa in 2020. I have completed important physiotherapy-related courses including onsite workshops, practical sessions, and distance learning. Myofascial therapy, dry needling therapy, manual therapy, and cupping therapy certifications have been obtained from reputed institutes and universities. I always try to implement and use the latest evidence-based therapeutic interventions for my patients with the support of research studies. Considering all of the above, I am looking forward to being a physiotherapist dedicated to enhancing optimal physical functions and the quality of life of the clients.

Experience

Teaching Hospital Batticaloa is the leading Hospital In the Eastern province of Sri Lanka. It consisting all the medical facilities and resources including professorial wards to provide comprehensive treatments for patients all over the country.
Currently, Under my duties at Teaching Hospital Batticaloa, I have managed patients in Rheumatology and rehabilitation clinics, pre and post-surgical wards, Intensive care, paediatrics physiotherapy wards/ clinics and sports physiotherapy unit. In parallel with duties, I conduct cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programmes and special pulmonary function tests (FVC, DLCO, 6MWT).
As a summary 
Working with patients to identify the physical problem; diagnose physical conditions and develop treatment plans to restore movement and function and reduce pain or limitations to mobility.
•Developing and reviewing treatment programmes: assess the client's level of mobility, strength, endurance and other physical abilities to determine the impact of an illness.
•Help patients understand how the condition affects their ability to function.
•Helping patients' rehabilitation following accidents, injury and strokes; especially following surgery.
•Communicate with Physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patients' problems, needs and progress.
•Measure clients' progress regularly and adjust treatment accordingly.
•Keeping up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating patients.
•Providing consultation on health promotion.
•I prepared exercise leaflets, and booklets to increase the quality of treatment.
•Contributed to implementing a pulmonary rehabilitation/post covid rehabilitation programme at the Teaching Hospital Batticaloa.

 

 

Education

I completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy degree with second class division in 2019. 

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession concerned with human function and movement. It uses physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being. It employs scientific methods to assess, manage and rehabilitate the affected. Physiotherapy services are used in many settings such as hospitals, community care organizations, sports organizations/units, and workplace settings. It is also research-oriented, exploring fundamental concepts and evaluating physiotherapy services to ensure optimum quality of care.
