Yakshaa Yathavan

Hello! I am Yakshaa, a Biomedical Science student from Singapore Polytechnic (SP). Being a diligent member of the medical community, I strive to provide a possible diagnosis of health problems, by analyzing biological samples and performing blood tests via reporting health findings.

Throughout my studies in SP, I have acquired ample scientific knowledge from coursework such as molecular techniques, cytogenetics, and histopathology to name a few. Recently, I was involved in a final year project, focusing on the cloning and expression of lipase genes in the pET28b+ expression vector.

Open-minded and driven, I actively participated in the Public Health Service Young Health Ambassadors’ Programme (YHAP-NUS) and explored being a chairperson in an Annual General Meeting. Volunteering as a storyteller and working as a part-time tutor, I gained an experience in classroom management skills as well as cultivated my patience and passion for teaching and working with children.  

As a detail-orientated person, I am able to complete tasks given meticulously with great determination. I hope to benefit and significantly contribute to the community by leveraging and optimizing my skills and passion for biomedical sciences.
