Job Summary


The Modelling Community of Excellence (MCoE) is a team of modelling experts focused on delivering a continuous, high-quality and efficient service of actuarial modelling to SCOR Life and Health (L&H) teams worldwide.

This includes the ongoing development and maintenance of models for both Pricing and Reserving. MCoE sets the ambition and vision for Actuarial Modelling and supports ongoing L&H strategic initiatives. The team have been a key contributor to significant global projects within SCOR such as the implementation of IFRS17.


MCoE has established a permanent Asia-Pacific Hub to lead its actuarial modelling support to our Asia-Pacific markets, in particular to our local reserving teams based in Singapore, Korea, China and Australia.

This Hub is supported by the wider MCoE team based in Ireland.


This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of an expert team working in a fast paced and dynamic environment developing state-of-the-art modelling solutions.

The role reports into the Head of Modelling and is based in Singapore. Some travel between SCOR offices (including Beijing, Sydney, Seoul, Dublin and Paris) will be required for this role.


Key duties and responsibilities

Duties to fulfil this role include:

  • Collaborate across teams to lead the design, development, testing, review, validation and delivery of models to meet the requirements of SCOR's Asia-Pacific reserving teams
  • Build strong relationships with senior colleagues and key stakeholders:
  • Asia-Pacific Head of Actuarial and APAC Actuarial Team,
  • Local Reserving Teams based in Singapore, China, Korea and Australia,
  • Head of Modelling and MCoE team based in Ireland
  • Represent the MCoE in providing modelling expertise, direction and solutions for the Asia-Pacific business
  • Be the primary contact for all modelling topics in Asia-Pacific, ensuring appropriate communication with all stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned by the Company, including participation in related Divisional and Group projects.
  • Drive the planning, monitoring and coordination of model developments and production releases. Deliver training, support and guidance to model developers and model users.
  • Collaborate with SCOR's data science community to identify new tools and technologies to bring SCOR's modelling capabilities to the next level:
  • Synthesise and get buy-in for an ambitious vision for where SCOR L&H can take its modelling and analytical capabilties in Asia Pacific
  • Work closely with our multiple geographical and culturally diverse teams to understand current practices and to explain and get buyin for proposed changes. Identify and develop solutions for challenges encountered.

Ideal Experience:


  • Development, testing and documentation of Actuarial Prophet models within a controlled framework
  • Experienced coding in Prophet including DCS, and VBA.
  • Experience in other actuarial modelling tools and programming would be a definite advantage, e.g. Python, SQL
  • Past involvement in significant projects implemented on a global basis
  • Managed or led teams of model developers within an Agile mindset
  • High level of independence, flexibility, assertiveness and ability to build relationships and work across multiple geographic locations.
  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity in proposing new ways of working
  • Flourishes working as part of a busy team in a fastpaced Agile environment

Required Education:

Partly or Fully Qualified Actuary with 5+ years recent Prophet experience
