Assistant Vice President, Claims

What is in it for you?

  • You will be covering claims on lines of business such as Property, Casualty, Terrorism, Energy, Power, Construction & FinPro.
  • Role involves interfacing with clients, placing brokers, retail office colleagues, (re)insurers, claims experts and other parties.
  • Role also involves mentoring and guiding more junior team members thereby assisting the Team leader in managing the team.
  • Identifies potential policies and coverage for incoming claims, performing independent research to seek validation or clarification where necessary
  • Notifies (re)insurers of any new claim in a prompt manner and keeps them fully updated as the claim progresses. This involves the registration of the claim on the system(s), the issuance of PLAs, RLAs, DLAs, debit & credit notes and the collection of both indemnity and expert fees with regular follow up in order to deliver timely collections.
  • Handles complex issues pertaining to claims complications, claims processes and/or claims collections, escalating where necessary.
  • Provides prompt, clear and accurate advice to clients and other parties on any claims matters
  • Coordinates with MMC Finance/Credit Control on claims and/or fee payment reconciliations and ongoing settlements to clients and claims experts
  • Maintain physical and/or efiles for all documentation to/from clients, (re)insurers, claims experts, etc., and ensures that all notifications, expert reports and updates are efiled.

What you need to have:


  • At least 8 to 10 years claims experience, preferably within a broking environment, with experience in some of the lines of business mentioned above
  • Achieved CGI, ACII or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Good understanding of (re)insurance policies, contracts/slips and their commercial aspects
  • Experience in handling large and complex (re)insurance claims
  • Able to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team in a fast paced environment
