- Engage in cross-functional collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams to accelerate the development of novel reagents and assays used across Illumina NGS and/or microarray platforms.
- Plan and execute various laboratory activities, communicate results and conclusions to aid in team decision-making.
- Maintain good lab and documentation practices.
- Upkeep of lab equipment, laboratory supplies and good housekeeping
- Minimum B.Sc./B.Eng. with 2+ years laboratory experience in a relevant field such as life sciences, biochemistry, biochemical/chemical engineering or equivalent is required.
- Recent M.Sc. graduates with laboratory experience may also apply
- Familiarity in various molecular biology and analytical techniques eg. quantitative PCR, optical/fluorescence microscopy, electrophoresis, liquid chromatography, activity assays, cell culture, nucleic acid isolation
- Strong collaborator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sense of urgency and ability to achieve deliverables within project timelines
- Ability to adapt to business needs in a rapidly changing, fast paced industry

- Previous work experience in biochemical, pharma, chemical or equivalent industries
- Experience with IVD and/or RUO product development
- Experience with NGS workflows including bioinformatics data processing

We are recruiting a Scientist 2 for the Assay R&D (Singapore) team who is keen to be part of our culture of constantly pushing the boundaries of science and technology to benefit human health. Assay R&D is part of the Advanced Science, Core R&D team of Illumina. The successful candidate will carry out scientific R&D in the field of molecular biology and analytical chemistry to develop novel, best-in-class genomics products.
Position Responsibilities:
As a Scientist 2 of the Assay R&D team, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to execute the design and development of novel, cutting edge assays for Illumina sequencing and/or microarray platforms. You will leverage your experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, analytical chemistry or biochemical engineering to determine the critical parameters for reagents function, stability, and assay performance.
