    Role Overview

    Charles Taylor Adjusting / Richards Hogg Lindley is a company dedicated to providing efficient and professional services to national and international insurance companies for claim handling. We have the largest global team of average adjusters to assist our clients in handling claims of all complexities and sizes.

    The role involves desk-based work, where average adjusters analyze findings and compile claim adjustments objectively and concisely. You will receive training on marine insurance fundamentals, assisting senior adjusters with survey report interpretation, and more as part of cause analysis and cost assessment. This includes collating and analyzing claim documents to validate repair costs and propose settlements in compliance with insurance terms and conditions. You may collaborate with senior or group office adjusting teams.

    Average adjusters are experts in marine insurance and law, appointed by any party in a marine claim. They act impartially and independently, solving problems and mediating disputes through experience and training.

    As a career progresses, the right candidate may have opportunities to work in our UK/Middle East/Greater China offices.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Perform loss adjusting functions for new and existing claims delegated by directors or senior adjusters, including:

    • Receiving and acknowledging new claims instructions
    • Managing claims professionally within agreed timelines
    • Conducting meetings with various involved parties
    • Preparing detailed reports on claims, including legal and policy considerations
    • Instructing and overseeing experts as needed
    • Communicating regularly with all parties involved
    • Negotiating and recommending claim settlements

    2. Assist in marketing Charles Taylor Adjusting / Richards Hogg Lindley and building client relationships by:

    • Developing relationships with existing clients
    • Identifying and approaching new clients
    • Attending networking events
    • Assisting in presentations and tenders
    • Supporting marketing functions within the company

    3. Ad Hoc duties: Includes tasks assigned by management within your role.

    Required Skills

    We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join our marine team as a Trainee Average Adjuster. Essential requirements include:

    • University graduate, preferably in Maritime/Maritime Law/Marine Insurance
    • 0-3 years of relevant post-graduate industry experience
    • Previous adjusting or surveying experience is a plus
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency in English, with a second Asian language a bonus
    • Strong IT skills, especially in Excel
    • Ability to travel occasionally
