Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description

Assist in a wide range of kitchen operations.
Prepare food ingredients and food items according to recipes.
Clean, peel, and chop vegetables and marinate, season, and coat food items as instructed
Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly
Ensure all kitchen equipment is in working order and report any issues to the chef or manager
Minimise the wastage and spoilage of ingredients and other food items.
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and place orders as needed to avoid shortages
Manage and maintain the hygiene standards established.
Maintain strict quality control standards for all food items leaving the kitchen
Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines set by local health agency
Work closely with service crew and supervisor, to ensure a smooth flow of service and address any customer feedback or concerns
Foster a positive learning environment and help team members grow in their culinary skills
Other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Direct Supervisor.

Requirements

Nitec and above education level; or its equivalent education level
Prior experience in a similar role, such as a kitchen assistant or food prep role, is often preferred but not always required, especially for entry-level positions
Possess hygiene certificate (preferred, but not required)
Able to understand and converse in mandarin and/or English
Meticulous, organized and hardworking individual
Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices
Willingness to learn and adapt to different tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and support the overall team effort.
Ability to take instructions and feedback from chefs and supervisors
Proactive approach to tasks and a willingness to assist wherever needed
Medically fit for the position
