Epworth Community Services is a Social Service Agency (SSA) that helps at-risk children and youths from needy and disadvantaged families. Social Work Associate, Literacy Centre

The Social Work Associate will support in programme management, social work functions, administrative support, outreach and community engagement with children and their families. This role is for a committed individual who can work in a team and wants to make a difference in the lives of children and their families through educational intervention programmes for specific learning needs. The Social Work Associate should possess empathy, and demonstrate compassion towards individuals facing challenging situations. The Social Work Associate should also have an understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds.

This role will be offered on a 3-year contract.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements:

Assist the manager in making calls to new referrals to gather preliminary information on the availability of the child for classes.
Providing information on details of our services to new clients.
Processing, assessing, and managing referrals for subsidy/ sponsorship.
Tracking and evaluating subsidy/sponsorship application outcomes through proper documentation.
Reviewing subsidy cases to ensure updated financial status and advise recommended subsidy levels.
Communicate the results of financial assessment to parents/ caregivers by engaging clients professionally and respectfully, to understand needs, and build rapport with children and families.
Keep proper and updated records of the database.
Compiling and providing timely submission of reports of subsidy cases and programmes to the management and relevant external agencies for continuity of service.
Plan and organise Kidsclub programmes (such as KidsRead), including training and working with volunteers on these programmes.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on events and programmes for students.
Assist in the administrative processes involved in the organization of events (e.g., crafting of consent forms, dissemination of information to all stakeholders, collection of responses, etc).
Rapport building and volunteer/client engagement.
Help out on any other duties when needs arise (e.g., reception duties, terms and conditions briefing etc).

Requirements:

Available to work half a day on Saturdays
Diploma/degree in Social Work, or relevant discipline such as psychology.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic IT knowledge and skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
