Position Overview
The Trader & Portfolio Manager will be a key contributor to our Asia Pacific investment portfolio and trading activities.

Create and manage investment portfolios and investment strategies while performing portfolio management and trading duties that meet the risk/return requirements of the insurance liabilities or surplus.

Act as the lead in the creation and implementation of investment mandates and the selection and relationship management of internal and external managers.

Emphasis is on the management, communications, and implementation of portfolio management and investment strategy.


Responsibilities
Execute trading strategies, ensuring that trading is done in line with best execution requirements, department policies, and guidance from portfolio management or investment solutions teams

  • Manage new order syndicate process for corporate bond new issuance, managing orders to optimize allocations
  • Analyze securities relative to RGA investment policies and portfolio goals and execute trades to achieve as high as possible investment income while managing risk and attaining a measure of total return. Facilitate regular reporting of the relative performance, performance attribution, disposition, and trade activities of their respective portfolios.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Wall Street dealers, analysts, and strategists.
  • Set and oversee strategic direction and daytoday management of the Asia Pacific investment strategies
  • Serve as primary contact for external manager and segment relationships
  • Management and oversight of portfolio monitoring, internal manager, and external manager reporting and analysis
  • Perform in Investment strategy and oversight role for internal manager desks
  • Idea sourcing and deal review assistance on yield enhancement efforts with investment banks and external managers; implement strategies and deal execution
  • Direct relative value framework process and implements actionable ideas
  • Management and oversight of cash positions and portfolio allocation process
  • Oversight of compliance management issues and status and signs off on periodic review of guideline/compliance rules
  • Suggest new tools and frameworks to improve portfolio management process
  • Review and at times present regular periodic and ad hoc Investments reporting
  • Interact with asset liability management team and has management and oversight responsibility for strategy implementation
  • Ensure all due diligence complies with underwriting criteria
  • Help formulate opinion on whether or not to move forward with transaction
  • Lead underwriting process for new investment opportunities, formulate transaction thesis and identify key risks
  • Responsible for completion of new investment approval memos, and present investment recommendation
  • Develop new relationships; responsible for covering assigned general partners and sourcing transactions
  • Produce regular analysis and reports for assigned investments, responsible for evaluating amendments or additional funding requests
  • Responsible for ensuring a smooth funding process and ongoing data implementation; resolve any trade operations issues
  • Lead production of research projects to assist in formulation of strategic direction
  • Manage and train portfolio analysts
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements Education and Experience**
Required:
  • MBA graduate and 5+ years relevant work experience or bachelor's degree in Economics/Finance related field with 7+ years relevant work experience
  • CFA or significant progress towards

Preferred:


  • Masters, ASA, FSA, or CAIA
  • 5+ years corporate credit experience
  • 5+ years alternative investment experience
  • 5+ years fixed income management experience in an insurance client environment

  • Advanced knowledge of portfolio and fixed income analytics (i.e. sector weightings, portfolio duration, performance attribution, convexity and term structure of interest rates)
  • Investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
  • Advanced negotiation skills to assist with internal/external discussions
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
