- Assess individual and group learning needs, level of ability in the target area for intervention, and determine suitable intervention plans in consultation with Senior/ Learning Specialist/ Associate Psychologist
- Engage parents through clarifying and managing expectations of parents, constructively conveying target areas for intervention, present review assessment outcomes and practical suggestions
- Provide coaching/ assist in support groups and workshops for parents
- Liaise and communicate constructively with school personnel through various channels to provide and/ or obtain feedback helpful for follow up work with child
- Work collaboratively in a team with Psychologists, and other professionals to identify and work on areas of needs of children to be addressed
- Provide on-going professional consultations in partnership with parents, other professionals in supporting children under their care with learning/special needs
- Develop and implement learning (literacy & language) intervention sessions in groups according to the needs of children with learning difficulties/ disabilities ( from 6 to 12 years old)
- Customise methods of intervention and vary materials/ tools where appropriate for different groups of children and learning outcomes
- Deliver effective learning intervention sessions that are organised, using appropriate intervention aids, communication and behaviour management strategies
- Conduct review assessments to monitor and evaluate progress of children and learning goals
- Systematically design sound intervention programmes with clear programme logic model/ theory of change
- Deliver programme and conduct outcome-based monitoring to ensure the successful accomplishment of its quantitative and qualitative objectives
- Mobilise resources and engage in collaborative work
- Identify gaps and areas of improvement for programmes, and propose potential solutions
- Assess effectiveness of programmes, gaps and areas of improvements based on client feedback, evidence-based practices and approaches (for LS4)
- Manage programme budget and ensure cost effectiveness
- Ensure proper documentation and report-writing
- Recruit, engage and develop volunteers where required
- Mobilise volunteers and delegate responsibility
- Provide relevant training/briefing for volunteers where relevant
- Maintain positive working relationship with volunteers
- Build rapport and professional relationships with stakeholders
- Ensure proper documentation and report-writing
- Identify current trends
- Gather relevant information for evaluation
- Support in evaluation/research activities
- Ensure proper filing and documentation
- Proposals and written reports are clear and concise
- Document and maintain case files and prepare reports according to required documentation standards

- Able to travel and support at other community sites (such as SHINE sites, schools, or partner social service agencies) may be required due to client and programme needs.

The Learning Specialist provides assessment, intervention and consultative support for children with learning and special needs. Working in collaboration with psychologists, senior specialists and other professionals, the role involves assessing learning needs, designing and delivering targeted intervention sessions, engaging parents and schools, and monitoring children's progress. The Learning Specialist also contributes to programme development, evaluation and continuous improvement, supports stakeholder and volunteer engagement, and ensures accurate documentation and reporting.
