What the role is

  • You will grow your career at NEA's Environmental Health Institute (EHI), where you will develop standards and guidelines for managing chemical pollutants of public health significance, through research and review of literatures and international guidelines. You will also lead the evaluation of products and technologies relevant to the environmental sector (e.g., vector control products, disinfectants, and aircleaning technologies) to assess efficacy, safety and quality, and provide sciencebased advice to inform decisionmaking, guide consumers and related stakeholders.

What you will be working on

  • As part of this work, you will design and conduct research and risk assessment studies to understand chemical pollutants and environmental exposures and develop risk mitigation measures. You will establish and optimise testing protocols in the chemistry laboratory for the determination of environmental pollutants. Key areas of interest include evaluation of vector control products, disinfectant products and aircleaning technologies, and development of standards and guidelines for managing these products and technologies. You will have ample opportunities to work closely with industry and international and local scientific experts.

What we are looking for

  • Job Requirements:
  • Multidisciplinary with excellent knowledge in Environmental analytical chemistry, Toxicology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, or related disciplines
  • Research experience in a range of microbiology methodologies including environmental monitoring and antimicrobial effectiveness testing is preferred
  • Strong interest in public health research, policy development, and operations; experience in a regulatory role will be an advantage
  • Detailoriented with excellent writing skills; resourceful and able to synthesize technical information from multiple sources to develop standards and guidelines
  • Good working knowledge of chemical analysis techniques, including the use of gas and liquid chromatography systems, will be an advantage
  • Keen interest in acquiring new technical knowledge and engaging with industry to provide sciencebased advice
  • Innovative and strong problemsolving skills to tackle emerging and challenging issues of public health interest
  • Capacity for system thinking and inclination for transdisciplinary science
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to multitask and work independently in a fastpaced environment
  • Open to developmental opportunities
