[What the role is]
The ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic environment.
[What you will be working on]
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the Collection Development Librarian in the development of the Library's collection by assisting with the acquisitions of new materials for ISEAS Library users
- Assist with the purchasing of new books and serials
- Coordinate and manage vendors to receive goods, and submit and maintain documentation in line with established administrative and financial procedures
- Receive, process, and carry out basic copycataloguing of library materials in various formats
- Management of collections to provide convenient, timely access to materials
- Assist in the collation and compilation of relevant data for reports
- Assist in running of Library's daily operations and provide good customer service, e.g. handle basic reference and circulation enquiries, manning the Library Counter, user education, and promotional activities
- Any other duties as required
Required qualifications and skillsets:
- At least three years of relevant library work experience, particularly in academic or special library environments
- Meticulous, organised, and independent selfstarter who takes initiative and pays attention to detail
- Possess good time management, teamwork and communication skills
- Willing to learn, able to multitask and complete tasks with tight deadlines independently
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Able to work with figures/numbers and write reports
- A Diploma in Information Studies, Library Science or related disciplines, or equivalent qualifications would be an advantage
- Familiarity with government procurement and/or GeBIZ would be an advantage
- Familiarity with library software (SirsiDynix Symphony) and OCLC Connexion software would be an advantage
- Knowledge of Southeast Asian languages would be an advantage
