Overview


One of Mastercard's assets is to provide to its end customers (issuers and acquirers) availability of robust and high quality technological approved products that will enable them to fulfil their business missions and bring new payment solutions in the market according to MasterCard requirements.

As part of the Chip Engineering department, the Product Approval Team is committed to help product vendors and customers to deliver in time such products to the market (cardholder and acceptance devices, Wallet UI)

The roles of this team are basically twofold: to identify, define and implement process improvements and manage approval operations.

Excellence in these activities is achieved through a deep understanding of the Mastercard requirements and of the products submitted for testing and approval, a mastering of the approval processes and a close control of the accredited labs testing activities.

Since a few years ago this role has been extended to the strategic payment mobile activity (cloud-based products), Transit and back-end server solutions.

This position is given the chance to work at a global level on a high variety of products (Devices, Wallet UI, Mobile Payment Applications and Back End Solutions)


Responsibilities:


  • The essential responsibilities of this role are around the management of the operations of Mobile payment Applications, Wallet UI, Wearables, backend Server and Transit Approvals
  • Manage relationship and be the interface with key vendors, partners and customers
  • Ensure that the Mastercard test and branding requirements, approval processes, Mastercard's rules are correctly implemented
  • Organize weekly calls with key developers, vendors or customers
  • Organize and manage regular coordination call/meetings with laboratories (labs) and manage a roadmap for process improvements
  • Manage the Global test Bench Identifier tool (GTBI) and ensure the GTBI is delivered on time to labs
  • Manage the approval processes and requirements for Wallet User Interface, including Wearables
  • Backup for the Approval of the Transit, Merchant Presented QR (MPQR), Back-End Services Solutions (Cloud Based Payment
  • MCBP) and Trusted Service Manager (TSM) for Secure Element and Trusted Execution Environment based solutions).
  • Ensure the service delivery is according to Mastercard Operational Service Level of Agreement (SLAs) and KPIs are managed according to the Team's objectives.
  • Manage some modifications in Vendor's contract or agreement and engage discussions with legal when necessary
  • Maintain the Product Approval databases and tracking files and provide some continuing ideas of improvement, make the visual basic development necessary to automate and speedup approval operations
  • Provide the management with SLAs, Approval numbers and statistics on quarterly basis
  • Participate to the communiqués document announcing process improvements, process changes
  • Provide support to Mastercard Regions namely about product approval processes or product migration

Requirements:


  • University degree, preferably in engineering, or equivalent background through work experience. Advanced degree strongly preferred
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience in quality assurance management, project management and/or business process engineering in a combination of the following industries: software development, financial services, telecom/mobile and ecommerce, in a similar position
  • Excellent analytical skills and business writing skills, processoriented, search for quality
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects and initiatives concurrently, to lead without direct control on project resources and to manage external and internal relationships in a global context
  • Business acumen with the ability to provide solutions and manage customer expectations
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with ability to present concepts and processes clearly
  • Deep knowledge of electronic payment systems, good knowledge of chip card technology, in particular of EMV specifications, familiar with testing and approval strategies is a must.
