Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated self-starter to make a large contribution to the continued growth and success of SGX Index Edge.

Since its launch in 2015, SGX Index Edge has successfully established itself as an index solution provider to investment banks, asset managers and ETF issuers across the Globe.

The role will sit in the Asia Index Development team and will be responsible for the index research and development.

The primary purpose of the role is to work with internal and external stakeholders to develop new indices with a view to grow and expand the business further.


Responsibilities:


  • New index development with a particular focus on using Python to implement index strategies across themes, strategies, and asset classes
  • Work with technology team to enhance the inhouse calculation system
  • Maintain and enhance current algorithms to improve efficiency and resolve issues
  • Work closely with clients for the implementation of custom index solutions
  • Develop controls, checks and balances to ensure harmonious ongoing management of indices
  • This role will require both strong quantitative finance and programming skills

Job Requirements:


  • Degree in mathematics, finance or engineering with minimum of 4 years working experience in quantitative role within a bank or asset management firm.
  • Working experience with programming and debugging in Python3, with a focus on quantitative libraries such as Numpy/Scipy/Pandas.
  • Strong math background, comfortable with concepts like linear algebra, optimization and working with complex financial models.
  • Strong problemsolving experience, analytical, project management, and communication skills a must.

Preferred Skillsets:

  • Object Oriented Programming and Test Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
  • Experience with data vendor terminals (e.g. Reuters, Factset, Bloomberg).
  • MS office tools including MS Excel
  • AWS Cloud Computing
  • Git version control
  • Understanding of Mandarin is preferable but not essential
