About Celeste Tan:

The inner passion in education drove me to join government primary school back in Malaysia. That experience combined with tutoring for about 2 years, it was very much valuable to me and inspired me to continue pursue my dream in education even though it was set aside for more than a decade. 

During mid-career switch, I joined the current preschool centre as L2 Chinese Educator back in 2021, actively participate in different classes and engaging with parents. In 2022, I have assisted in SPARK application and certification process and successfully passed. With experience working with children from 2 to 16 years old, I am able to apply what I've learn in SignPosts back in 2016 for better behaviour and classroom management. I believed in all these experiences added up would allow me to bring more value in process.

Experience

  • Develop and implement teaching and caregiving activities, considering the safety and wellbeing of the children, and aligned with Centre’s principles and the relevant curriculum frameworks.
  • Use the school's software management systems to streamline processes and tasks effectively.
  • Design a quality learning environment with developmentally appropriate learning materials and resources.
  • Evaluate documentation of children's learning and development to better inform planning and teaching.
  • Identify potential teaching and learning methods based on emerging sector trends.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration within the Centre through effective communication strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with families to ensure continuity of care and learning between home and the Centre.
  • Develop and guide the execution of outreach activities to promote the Centre's programmes and services.
  • Evaluate family and community initiatives and programmes for continuous improvement.
  • Review and follow standards and procedures for routine caregiving.
  • Identify opportunities for improving routine caregiving practices.
  • Commit to continuous professional development, analysing and proposing improvements to professional practice and service quality activities.
  • Actively promote the Centre's vision, mission, and values.
  • Assisted in SPARK application and certification process.
