# Colette Helen Alexandratos

My passion for the arts has led me to become an illustrator, art teacher and art therapist. My connected experiences of customer service, my love for working with children and experiences as a practicing artist have guided my journey on how art can be utilised in discovering one’s self and the potential it holds in a therapeutic and insightful mental health capacity.

• Art Therapy intern | UWCSEA, (Dover Campus)| Singapore | Sept ’22 – April ’23

During my internship at UWCSEA, I introduced and implemented the discipline of Art Therapy into the school setting. I set up open studio sessions to promote relaxation and expression of difficult emotions through the art materials in the purpose-built counselling and wellness centre within the school premises. This resulted in reoccurring student attendance and a continued interest to hold a space for artmaking. I also took on an interdisciplinary and relational approach by working alongside the in-house school counsellors and fellow members of staff. With this, I conducted individual and group art therapy sessions with primary and secondary students at the school, taking on an art and play therapy child centred approach.  

• Art Therapy intern | Ren Ci, Ang Mo Kio | Singapore |Jan’22- April ’22

During my internship at Ren Ci, whilst COVID-19 restrictions were still being enforced, I co-facilitated with the in-house Art Therapist open studio sessions for the residents to promote empowerment through creativity and sharing. I also conducted individual art therapy sessions with a person-centred approach.
